▶ What happens when you take a ruthless former 1%-er who made her fortune by stepping on the backs of anyone unlucky enough to be in her way, strip her comfy luxe life away from her via alien invasion, and throw her into the Apocalypse-sponsored new world order?
▶ Ask her husband. :)
▶ Or don't since Daniel was the first person she sold out to keep one step ahead of the competition and he's probably dead by now. :)
▶ Oops, she means :(. Sorry babe, xoxo, you're forever in her heart & etc
Sarah is a 39 year old former investment group CEO nightmare who traded in making a killing in profit for making a profit in killing-- only technically speaking, of course.
Whatever happened to the people she helped corale into labor camps like chattle in exchange for not joining them wasn't really her concern after the fact, and generally speaking she was far more preoccupied making sure none those intergalactic assholes caught her in the middle of a headache they thought might be execution-worthy than she was worrying about people too stupid to figure out how to tip the scales in their own favor. What she lacks in empathy and remorse she makes up for in ice cold pragmatism and quick thinking under pressure, and she had the good sense to disappear out of sight long before her lies caught her into a corner she couldn't slip back out of.
By the time she makes it to Crater Lake she has the perfect story ready for her Oscar level performance to get her past the door: a grieving widow at the very end of whatever luck had gotten her that far, defenseless and near tears just at the idea that she wasn't alone out in the woods any longer and ready to offer whatever meager belongings she had as payment just for a chance to prove she can be helpful enough to stay.
Yeah, she was pretty proud of the delivery of it herself, too.
Keen observers might be able to spot the cracks in her otherwise solid mask of being a helpful team player, catching the forced tightness in her smiles or the way they never quite reach her eyes, warmer expressions dropping quickly off her face the second she thinks no one is watching. She's manipulative, deceitful, and not above beating herself to hell and back as a joke of an amateur farmer with a happy face plastered on the whole while if it means conning her way into the good graces of the people in Crater Lake so she can survive in this hellscape just a little longer, but if it ever comes down to her or them? She'll throw them right under the bus without a moment of hesitation.
